Solid Hardwood
Solid hardwood planks are made from a single piece of wood that is either air-dried or kiln-dried before being milled. Depending on the desired appearance, the lumber can be flat-sawn, quarter-sawn, or rift-sawn. These planks are typically produced in a ¾" thickness with tongue-and-groove edges.
Read moreSolid hardwood is not recommended for basements or condominiums due to higher humidity levels, which can cause the boards to warp or cup. In winter, dry indoor air often creates gaps of about ⅛" between boards, which naturally close during the summer as humidity rises. To minimize issues, a maximum board width of 5" and an indoor humidity level between 37% and 50% are recommended.
